My Space Pod modular building system receives
British Board of Agrément certificate.
The presentation of the BBA certificate by BBA’s
Business Manager Gary Dicker, was made to the directors
of My Space Pod Limited, Eli Mordoch and Sam Minionis
at Ecobuild, the world’s biggest event for sustainable
design, construction and the built environment at
London’s Earls Court on Tuesday 2nd of March
2010.
BBA Certificates are the result of an impartial
assessment by a body originally set up by Government
to do so. BBA approval involves considerable commitment
and expenditure by the manufacturers who hold it.
BBA Certificates show that holder’s manufacturing
and QA systems meet the high standards of the BBA
not just when the Certificate has been issued, but
throughout the life of the Certificate. BBA Certificates
show how products comply or contribute to compliance
with Building Regulations across the UK identifying
the certificate holders as quality conscious companies.
BBA Certificates are respected by specifiers and
users, who will be able to see that the products have
been subject to a rigorous assessment by an independent
authority this makes life simpler for architects or
contractors using approved products as they will not
encounter problems with regard to acceptance of products
by building control personnel and important decision-makers
who will have the reassurance that the product and
performance described in the Certificates prove them
fit for purpose.
BBA Certificates are accepted by the NHBC and other
Insurers also look favourably on BBA approved products.
This means that approved products can be used without
question in private housing and housing associations
covered by the NHBC warranty.
Gary Dicker commented
“the BBA Certificate holders can use the BBA
logo on advertisements and technical literature that
will help win or retain business for approved products.
BBA Certificates are also listed on many industry
information services, including Barbour, IHS (formerly
Technical Indexes) and RIBA Product Selector. BBA
Certificates are featured in key industry journals.
BBA Certificates are featured and downloadable on
the BBA website, accessed by many tens of thousands
of visitors every month”.
Sam Minionis, Business Development Director, comments
“The BBA certificate endorsement gives our product
a very valuable sales and marketing tool as it now
supports our own professional teams assessments of
achieving 60 year product life expectancy, furthermore
by value engineering the most remarkable and advanced
insulation materials and maintaining product integrity
incorporated into the modular system we have attained
full compliance with building regulations, importantly
part L1 conservation of fuel and power in new buildings.
We have had a fantastic response to our projects from,
architects, specifiers, contractors, Insurers, end
user, and investors. We now anticipate that general
acceptability of our modular building system by local
planning authorities will be much improved by attaining
the BBA certificate”.
Eli Mordoch Project & Operational Director,
comments “Our modular
building system has been developed over the past 24
months with the last 12 months under assessment by
BBA technical staff and inspectors. The BBA certificate
was made possible by the incredible work that was
undertaken by our off site construction partners Ardmore
/ Paddington together with our highly experienced
professional team including Will Alsop, Buro Happold,
CoSa, Fergusson Brown Sustainability and of course
the full compliment and support of all our product
suppliers. I would recommend any raw material manufacturers
especially in the building industry to undertake the
BBA certification as this makes product selection
much easier when it comes to production assembly where
the highest specifications are required to meet UK
building regulations”.
